WordPress…. again

So, I had this idea to make the Icon Runner website. I was going to use some new technologies and make this website a prime portfolio site with all the bells and whistles.

The plan was to create the website using Jekyll and then post a copy of it on github spaces. Then using CloudFlare post instances of the website on all of their remote servers worldwide.

The website would be static, but created dynamically and super easy to update without any of the moving parts being on the website itself. No admin login page to get hacked, no database to inject, hosted everywhere and loading in milliseconds.

Well, a great amount of time was spent on hold while I banged my head against the new technology and all the while there was drama unfolding between github and other parties.

A very smart person told me that a WordPress site that was live was worth more than the perfect site that never launches. And since I had already made 2 or 3 WordPress sites in the meantime while my own handcrafted business site languished on a laptop. So I installed WordPress and started configuring.

Turns out I really like the new page builder and customization options. Building web pages in WordPress is fun again, and I am really proud with how this is coming along.

As of today, several pages are up, including the homepage and the contact page. More pages are being published on a daily basis and by the time YOU are reading these words, the entire site should be complete.

This seems like a rambling post, but I needed some content for the blog page and writing something from the heart felt better than Lorum Ipsum yet again (although there are some very fun text generators these days)

So, you win this round WordPress. Your easy to use admin process and mobile friendly templates not only saved me heaps of work, but it also allowed me to have a live and functioning site much sooner than building it from scratch. Take the W.
